I'm stuck on this 10-11 mile territory. I promise you, one of these days, I'll do 14/15. It has to happen, sooner or later..right??
Weekend workout/ running plans??
I might take today off, and get back to running on Saturday, and maybe..just maybe,a looong run on Sunday!

Can you knit/sew pretty well? Ever make clothing items?
uh, I can't. It's pretty cool when I see people knitting scarves, hats, mittens and clothes and things like that!
The scarf I'm wearing below was made for me by a friend of mine!
Cute, right? I am so impressed! Love the colour, style and it is super warm!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!
I have been sooo excited for this weekend...whyyy??
My brother (who works in the U.K) is coming HOME - for 14 days. Oh my days, I am too excited.
We stay up literally all night and watch movies and eat Mcdonald's at 4am when he's home. I can't wait.
How many siblings do you have? Are you close to them??
I just have 1 bro. He's 13 months older than me! We are super close, even if we're sooo far apart now. I remember the days we used to argue and fight over the remote and I'd literally cry because he wouldn't let me watch a Backstreet Boys concert on tv...Brothers.

- I signed up for the Yonge Street 10km happening April 21st in Toronto. Any Canadians doing it? I don't ever race 10ks. I signed up because It said you get 2 free shirts if you registered before a certain deadline. ha! It'll be fun though. Running down Yonge street is what I do on a regular basis when I'm outside!
- I have not bought new running shoes yet. It will be all over this blog when I do. There's a big Nike store and Brooks store I'd like to check out today first!

I have a totally random and irrelevant question: do Torontans (Torontoans?) pronounce the second t in Toronto? I just watched the movie Argo and Ben Affleck says Canadians don't pronounce it. Sorry, we Americans are ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteI've never done a 10k but it sounds like a good distance! Kind of far to sprint all out, but if you're moving quickly enough it doesn't last all that long!
3 siblings (two bros, my triplet brothers, and an older sister), not close AT ALL. It's unfortunate, though; I'm always jealous of people who have fun with their siblings.
LOL I LOVED Argo! Torontonians..I think. haha!
Deleteummm, not reaallly, we don't pronounce it. I think the movie was pretty accurate in the way we say it actually! Torono!
Three cheers for a race sign up! Always a good jump-start, kick-in-the-pants, see-where-you-stand kinda event. And racing a route you run every day is still a really different kind of experience. Fun! :)
ReplyDeleteI have a younger (by 3.5 years) sis. Our closeness has varied over the years...at present, our career tracks are closer than ever, but we don't manage to keep in touch very well. <---things to work on, I suppose!
Happy Friday to you too!
My BFF is a knit wear designer and is actually knitting me a scarf right now! I, on the other hand, can pretty much only sew a button onto a shirt and that's it. Lol! I would love to have some sewing skills!
ReplyDeleteYay for your 10k! Do you have a goal time? I did a 5k last year that was a route I run often, but for some reason it felt totally different during the race!
ooooh I wanna see what she sews for you! :D
DeleteYou know what, my 10ks are usually so slow and relaxed, BUT, I've been thinking this would be perfect for me to work on speed and figure out an optimistic but realistic goal! hmm! I'm gonna think about what to aim for!
Lovely that your brother is coming for a visit:) Horrible for you that he has been so far away - I have 2 sisters and all three of us lives on different continents, we haven't all been together in over 10 years, it sucks:( You'll do that 10 Km easily, nice to get free tshirts too. Can't sew or knit I'm afraid.
ReplyDeleteoh gosh, that's a lot of space in between you and your sisters! It is AMAZING that we have things like skype/facetime these days. It makes things a little bit easier that way eh
DeleteHooray for sibs visiting. I have three younger sibs and between us we live in three different countries. So get-togethers are rare and precious.
ReplyDeleteHappy shoe shopping. I'm still waiting for my free Brooks to arrive in the post. I LOVE my Brooks. Bu then I'm rather partial to my Nike Frees for any other kind of exercise. So I guess I'm no help there... ;)
ahhh WHAT is better than free shoes?!?! I'm hearing the unwavering love for Brooks through a lot of bloggers, so before I make a choice, I know I neeeed to check them out!
Deletehave fun visiting with your brother!!! that is so exciting that he'll be home for a visit.
ReplyDeletei love both nike and brooks shoes - good luck with your search.
the yonge street race is flat n fast - i've heard really good things about this race.
i LOVE to knit!! that scarf from your friend is gorgeous!! i find knitting really relaxing!
Sounds like that 10k ing to be a fun one for ya. You're going to kick it's butt, I know it.
ReplyDeleteI too have been wanting to check out the Brooks, due to the good stuff I read about them!
I have one brother who is 18 months older. We get along great, as long as we don't talk politics! :)
I crocheted a bit years back but wasn't very talented at it. That scarf your friend made you is very cool. Now that's talent!
I do random out of nowhere squats during the day too, if I can. Lol
I had no idea "Toronto" was pronounced that way! Interesting. (But in no way do I fell "ridiculous" for not knowing.)
Have a great weekend TR :)
Have a great weekend Stacey!
Deletehaha politics can be a touchy subject for a lot of people eh. It's nice having a sibling pretty close in age!
Have a great time with your brother! I have 3 brothers and I rarely see them.
ReplyDeletehaha, how many times have I signed up for a race because of the shirt or medal? love it:) Enjoy your visit with your brother!
ReplyDeleteAwesome run on the treadmill! I hope you have an awesome time with your brother while he's back for his visit. I'm an only child, so unfortunately I don't have any siblings to be close to, but I will have two awesome sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law in a few months!
ReplyDeleteexactly! it's bound to happen!! and once it does, you'll be so happy you hit 15 miles :) omg i'm so happy you!!! that's so exciting when you haven't seen your brother in a while, enjoy your time with him :) i have three scarves that my mom's old coworker made, they are so fluffy and warm!!! haha i was just thinking about signing up for a race last night. planning a 15 miler for saturday, and day off is always sunday :)
ReplyDeleteI've (creepily) totally thought about your 15 miler on the treadmill the other day. It's motivating me! Have a great run on Saturday!
DeleteYour impressive treadmill runs have been inspiring me to start loving the 'mill!! You will totally get to 15 miles on there. It's snowing back in London again so I really need to learn to love it. Have a great weekend!!
ReplyDeleteBeing so unimpressed with the snow and cold FORCED me to love the treadmill. haha!
DeleteHave a fab weekend lady!
love it! I'm running my half marathon on Sunday (finally)!!!! I woke up this morning wanting to run but I know I have to take time off. Getting antsy!!! I have two siblings. An older brother (he's 29) and a younger sister (she's 21). Love them both, but my sister is my best friend on the planet!
ReplyDeleteawww love your sister relationship.
DeleteGOOOOD LUCK FOR SUNDAY!! I can not wait to hear about it!!
I really want to learn how to knit. My girlfriend even bought me a starter kit. That scarf is great, and it's much better knowing it's homemade:)
ReplyDeleteI have an older brother that is my go-to for anything. I am blessed to be so close to him.
HAPPY FRIDAY - have a great weekend.
Eventually I'll make it up to Toronto. I keep telling my hubs it looks like one of the most unique cities in N. America. And so many good races. You'll have to give me the full scoop when I come!
ReplyDeleteHave a great time with your brother :) The Yonge Street race sounds like fun, I wish I had been a runner when I lived in Toronto!
ReplyDeleteHAPPY FRIDAY!! I am rooting for you to do a long run this weekend!! :) I have 11 miles scheduled for Saturday. It is supposed to rain all day, so I think I am going to end up doing it at the gym on the treadmill. You are motivating me to join your TM running!
ReplyDeleteI love the scarf- so pretty. I also love your lipstick color in the picture.
I have a big family- I am one of five kids. I have 3 sisters and 1 brother and I fall right in the middle of them all. Love my siblings, they are my bestest friends! Have so much fun with your brother!
aww that sounds like a lovely big family!
Deletewoohoo, good luck with the 11 miler on Saturday. I only ran in the rain once...and that once was more than enough. LOL
Thank you!!! :) I will definitely report back because it looks like I am going to be in the rain. At least it will motivate me to run faster!! ;)
DeleteMy sister & I are very close and I'm lucky that we live in the same city. I'm on the hunt for running shoes too - I was just fitted but I'm trying to find something I like color wise without splurging for Nike ID again.
ReplyDeleteI have three younger sisters. I am very close to two of them and will be running a half marathon with one this summer! And I LOVE to sew. I make a lot of my own clothes and am about to start making a shirt for my husband. I'm a little nervous-for some reason sewing mens clothes freaks me out!
ReplyDeleteoh goshhh, that is so amazin you'll be running a half together!! I can't think of anything more fun to be honest!!
DeleteI ran a half with my sister and it was AMAZING!! Sisters are the best thing in the world! I will never forget the look on her face when we crossed the finish line together. Have fun with her:)
DeleteYay for races! 10K's are about as low a distance race that I actually like. Much prefer at least 15K and over but I find myself running 10K's for tempo runs in training :)
ReplyDeleteI have 2 younger sisters we are group texting throughout the entire day every day since we don't see each other much.
Love the group texting! Technology has definitely made keeping in touch that little bit easier!
DeleteI'm going to try and use the 10k as some type of tempo too, since I agree with you - I like a race to be at least 15k or a half!
I'm excited for you to be able to hang out with your brother! Definitely a reason to be looking forward to this weekend!!! I have one younger brother (2.5 years). We aren't super close, but I do like to spend time with him. He lives close to my parents, but I live across the US from them. So, we don't see each other often.
ReplyDeleteI have knit a scarf or two, but don't really *know* how to do it. haha. I always had help with it. I do know how to sew, but haven't made anything in a long time. Running has taken over!
I think I'm going to run 12 miles tomorrow morning! Does your brother run? Might be fun for you to do a run together.
have a good 12 miler!!
DeleteNo, he doesn't run. :( Boy do I ever try and try and try to force him into it. Not happening. LOL
It's really fun to run a race that is on a street/path that you normally run on. It is the same street but can feel totally different!
ReplyDeleteMy sister is 2 years younger than me and we have always been very close. We shared a room for most of our lives, played the same sports, went to the same college, etc. She also knits and has made me some awesome scarves and hats!
ReplyDeleteoh i love, love how close you guys are! I used to always wonder what it'd be like to have a sister when I was younger!
Deletei would LOVE to learn to knit/crochet/sew. your scarf is cute your friend did a nice job. it's on my bucket list when i squeeze precious blogging and running time over. someday! way to do 10 on the treadmill that is not an easy task. i have 3 siblings that are all older than me. when we are all together it's a BLAST! have fun with your bro:)
ReplyDeletep.s. too cute you signed up for a race just for the shirts. that's something i would do. wear em proud:)
Yay! So excited your brother is coming home!!!! That is great!!!! I have two bros and a sis. And wish I could knit!
ReplyDeleteYAY for Big Brothers! My brother is 7 years older then me and we are SUPER close too! I love when I get to go home and visit him and his family! My BFF knits and makes me some sweet stuff -- it's pretty awesome!
ReplyDeleteI love knitting and crocheting! I am the oldest of 6 :)
ReplyDeleteoh that's a big fam!! love it :D
DeleteLOVED this post. I am the big sister to my only sibling and she and I are connected at the hip. I couldn't imagine her being away which is a strong possibility seeing as how her beaux wants to marry her and take her away to Liberia, Africa...URGGHHH! I am so happy for you. I hope that you have an amazing 14 days with him. I know nothing of domesticated tasks but the scarf is too cute.
ReplyDeleteoh goshhhh that's hard about your sis. It is so hard to be pulled apart like that, but life happens right. Luckily, skype/facetime and technology these days can take a load of!
DeleteMy sisters and I are super close too my oldest sister got married and moved away 3 years ago it was so weird not having her around all the time, but when she's back it's like she's never been away. I got a flat with my little sister but she's engaged to be married too, hopefully they don't move to far!!!
ReplyDeleteHave an amazing time with your brother
X
Have a great time with your brother!
ReplyDeleteVery exciting about your brother coming home! And that scarf is adorable!!
ReplyDeleteI have four brothers.
I have an older brother and sister. We couldn't be more different, in a good way though. Enjoy your time with your brother! Besides my usual weekend runs, I am going to take my first zumba class tomorrow morning. I am kinda nervous about it!! Wish me luck!! :)
ReplyDeleteoh HAVE FUN and good luck!! I was sooo nervous my first zumba class, but it is really so fun and everyone is always there to really let loose and enjoy! Let us know how it goes!
Deletei'm doing the sporting life one on may 12!! i'd do the other but will be in europe:)
ReplyDeleteYour runs have been awesome lately! So crazy that you can crank that mileage out on a treadmill, no problem.
ReplyDeleteLove that scarf... I wear scarfs all the time :)
I can't even convince myself to go jogging. I admire your dedication! I do fitness classes on-and-off, and I have to say, I hate planking the most. Haha I find it so hard, but it does pay off :) Good luck on your next run!
ReplyDeletePS. I have 3 brothers and they've all been such a pain when we were younger. Maybe that's how it really is :P LOL. Now we're all super close!
x Megann / STYLE SURGERY
ahhh planking/squatting/core work..I find it soo hard to be consistent with!!
DeleteI think it's in the brother code to be a pain!!
You'll absolutely get to the 14/15 mile range! Just pick a weekend and go for it!! Just pace yourself as I'm sure you already do and you'll crush it...no doubt in my mind! Thanks for swinging by http://britsytoboston.blogspot.com/ too by the way :)
ReplyDeleteway to kick butt on that run!! but PLEASE make sure u get those new shoes...haha, sorry the overprotective runner nerd in me wants to say that. :P
ReplyDeletethat said, u pretty thang, have a wonderful weekend!
Ten miles on the treadmill!! Get it girl! Impressive.
ReplyDeletethat's so exciting about your bro!! Love sibling time :D. Oh and I lol'd at "my bff the treadmill"
ReplyDeleteWay to go, 10 miles is great! I keep wanting to do 14-15 sometime soon too. Never have, but I know it will happen=)
ReplyDeleteWhere is the Nike and Brooks store? I know of the Nike store at Yonge/Bloor but didn't know there was a Brooks store in Toronto?
ReplyDeleteGot your reply on my blog, thanks! Too bad the stores you're talking about are outside of Toronto, I don't drive. I hope you'll post about going and if you got anything there though!
DeleteIf I were in Toronto at the time I would totally run that race with you! It's nice that you and your brother are so close :)
ReplyDeleteI am looking out for that shoe post - I love new shoes :-)
ReplyDeleteGreat job on signing up. Who knows; you might grow to love the 10km!
Hey, 10-11 miles is certainly nothing to sneeze at! Have fun while your brother is visiting!
ReplyDeleteI have an older bro and sister, we are all pretty close. At the moment we all actually live close too (which has not always been the way).
ReplyDeleteI would totally enter an event for free stuff too!
That scarf is sooo cute. I've got really basic skills would love to be better!
You and your bro will have such a blast!!! Enjoy it! I hope you get a chance to go over and visit soon too.
Can't wait to see the new kicks!! And yeah, race tees are DEFF an incentive. I wan tot learn how to sew those no slip headbands. Those things are adorable, but I refuse to pay eight bucks for one I can make
ReplyDeleteHaha I thought I was the only one that planked all through the house. Commercial breaks...in the bed (don't ask) in the kitchen, you name it. Trying to build endurance.
ReplyDeleteI have two brothers, 1 sis...would you like another brother? One of my mines are for sale! I kid, I kid. I know you must be super stoked he's coming home for two weeks. I would be too if my bros lived in another part of the world. They live 10 mins away from me and I'm always excited to hang out with them. My sister is autistic so I treasure EVERY moment that I get with her. I never let a single moment that we spend together go to waste.
And girl you are hilarious! Two free shirts huh? That's a good motivator! LOL! You will rock it! Why? Because you gat it like that.
Enjoy the weekend.
xo
LOL one bro is for sale eh!
DeleteSO sweet about your sister. I love sisterly relationships. Often wondered how that would be like if I had one!
TWO shirts!?! Heck yes!! Awesome treadmill times..you are getting speeeeeedy!!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it crazy to think that you can set out for a 10 mile run and consider it easy?? Crazy but AWESOME! I have 2 siblings (older bro & sis) and I'm super close to them both...definitely want to have at least 2 kids so that they can enjoy having a sibling as much as I do!
ReplyDeleteBrothers are the best! I hope you guys are having an awesome time!!! I have 3 and my oldest one was just visiting me for 10 days - AWESOME. Yay for the 10km and I love your scarf. Wish I could knit but I figure I can take that up when my legs pack up on me ;)
ReplyDeleteThat scarf IS cute! I have 3 younger brothers...you can imagine how thing were growing up- can you say wrestling matches?! ha!
ReplyDeleteI have a younger bro , we are close but not really into talking as he is very introverted!
ReplyDeleteHave a superb time with him and post pics!
My bro is 18 months older, and it's awesome. We used to fight too, but somewhere along the way he became one of my best friends! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteThat scarf is so cute!! I have 1 brother and 1 sister. I am pretty close to both of them but I enjoy talking to my sister more than my brother. I hope that you had a nice weekend!
ReplyDeleteI had a great 9.45miler yesterday!
ReplyDeleteI have 1 brother. We are pretty close.
Did you pay an arm and a leg for the 10K? 2 shirts that is a lot. I hope they are cute! :)
I totally want to raid Kourtney's closet too!! Her style is adorable!
ReplyDeleteLove your scarf and so love those bright pink shoes!
ReplyDelete
