Grammy's!

Sunday: 4.5 miles : 9:40pace, treadmill.

Hey guys! how was your weekend??

I felt super tired all weekend. I'm not sure what it was??..but here we gooo to a new week.

I gotta say, ever since I did those long 13.1 miles on the treadmill last week..all my treadmill running since has been really fun. I've kinda really fallen in love with it?! I broke through the mental barrier of boredom. Maybe it's because I've REALLY appreciated staying warm and inside during the cold weather and snow!

I'm not alternating between shoes at the moment. I'm wearing my Nike Lunarfly 2's pretty much everyday. I have a pair of Asics I love, but they have SO many miles on them that I need to stop wearing them to run in, period.

Do you have a shoe rotation? how many shoes??

With all the advice saying you shouldn't wear a pair with more than 450-500miles, I'm on a hunt for another pair of running shoes this week! My Lunarfly's already have about 200 miles!

Anyone watch the Grammy's??

It was a bit lackluster for me this year (and I'm a huuuuuge music fan). The only performance I was really looking forward to was Justin Timberlake's. He's definitely going a new direction with his music this time!

so, let's check the faaaaaaashion! (all, except the last picture, came from dailymail.co.uk)

I think Taylor looks great, but she always looks the same?! Same type of dress and style all the time.

Rihanna looked gorgeous! LOVE the hair colour on her and the fiery red. The colour and cut of the dress is stunning!

I always see the Grammy's as a gown-type event, but I am in looove with Beyonce's outfit. The black/white contrast, the red lip, the hair..and that BODY!

Everyone is talking about Jlo. I think everyone loved the dress..I have a girl-crush on her, but I am just not liking this dress at all!

Kelly, I think, looked pheeenomenal. The dress! I think you'll either love it, or hate it!

Katy Perry is blessed. Yes.

TV presenter Rocsi. I think i just want this white jumpsuit for myself, please!! gorgeous.

May be a random choice, but Beyonce's sister, Solange, I thought looked great. The dress is so flattering..love the colour and the pop of pink with the heels!

  1. I'm glad the treadmill running is working for you, as it is SO COLD there!! I alternate between Mizunos and Asics, this is the first year that I am doing this I always just had one pair of running shoes in the past.

  2. Yay, you found your groove on the treadmill. I always view it as endorphins are endorphins, whether you are able to get them inside or outside. I LOVE running outside, but because of the childcare situation, I run a lot inside. So maybe my attitude about it comes from trying to make the best of a necessary situation. I have about four pairs of shoes in my rotation. It's hard to keep track of all the mileage though.:( I get rid of them when they start to lean too much (mine wear out on the outside edge first so that there is a visible lean after they get pretty worn out).

So my favorite dress is Rihanna's, and I am not loving that green color on Katy Perry. Not the best shade of green for her.

    1. If you can rock out all those amazing races and trail running while doing a lot of running inside - I'm sold on the treadmill forever!! :D

  3. I need your treadmill dedication! I get stuck around the 40 minute mark...i.e. not very far at all. What's the secret?

LOVING the Grammy catch up, so many beautiful dresses. I can't usually stand Rhianna's outfit choices but she looks fantastic there. Your Katy Perry comment cracked me up...oh yes, she is very blessed!!

    1. hahaha I'm just SLIGHTLY jealous of K.Perry..
Ever since I did the 13.1 on the treadmill, ANYTHING less than that seems like a dream. It's such a mental battle..but I keep telling myself, this is better than running outside in the cold/snow and ice!

  4. i did not watch the grammy's at all so thanks for the fashion round-up! the red carpet part is always my favourite, anyway, of any awards show.
my shoe rotation is 7-8 pairs because i work at a running store!! yes, it is a lovely perk of the job!! and yes, you will really go through shoes as you ramp up your mileage!
    happy monday!

  5. Do you listen to music or watch something while on the treadmill? It's no secret that it's not my favorite place to be. The room that it's in is not helpful to me, as it's so dark and dreary, but I could use some tips too! Looks like the nasty weather is heading this way again!

I usually stick with one pair of shoes, but I have a spare pair I keep at work with a couple running outfits, in case I forget my running bag (not that I've been squeezing in after work runs recently...but I will soon!) They are a pair of Asics I ordered on the internet, but didn't realize that they had changed the style so much between the pair I already had and I don't like the toebox, it's too narrow. But for a quick couple of miles in the afternoon in a pinch, they work!

I went to bed during the Grammy's...would have had to fight the husband for the remote anyway, he was watching some logging show. I'll catch up on the outfits on E! later this week, I'm sure!

    1. oooh, I have a pair of asics I love. I've got wide feet, so narrow shoes would be a struggle! :S

It's funny, I don't seem to really "watch" the tv on the treadmill. It's on, but I don't put the headphones in and I don't pay attention. I think since I'm at the gym, I generally just people watch.
I had to talk myself into longer runs on the treadmill, and basically I remind myself that my legs feel lighter on there, there's no crazy weather I have to battle and I DO have entertainment if I need it - there is no reason I can't run long inside, if I can do it outside!
Some days though - no more than 2 miles and I'm done! lol

  6. PLEASEEEE teach me your secret to running on the treadmill. I still hate it and still avoid it like the plague... But great job for you! Wow, I'm super impressed over here!

    1. I really do have an argument with myself everytime I'm on the treadmill. LOL it is a BATTLE. for some reason lately, once I get PASSED 3 miles, it then turns kinda fun?! :S

  7. well that's good!!! it's a lot more enjoyable when it's warm :)
i don't rotate through my shoes, i've always kinda wanted to, i feel like they would last longer lol that is true, taylor swift always does look the same....i only really liked rihanna's (out of the photos) Jlo and beyonce's are just too odd for me lol

  8. Beyonce was a big let down, and JLo as well.

    Rhianna looked aces! Very pretty.

I actually enjoyed the performances more this year. I love award shows:)

    1. I thought I was the only one who thought that about JLO because everyone seems to be talking about it!

  9. I haven't watched the Grammy's yet but I love seeing all the dresses! I don't keep track of mileage for my shoes, and I probably change them more than I really need to but I hate running without a good cushion.

  10. I only have one pair of running shoes now, and I'm going to use my pair that I just retired last week as my cross-trainers. I watched the Grammys too and I was disappointed as well. In fact, I turned it off with about an hour left because I just wanted to go to bed. I even missed the first house because I was working, but it seems like I didn't miss much! Rhianna looked gorgeous in every outfit though. And I love love love Kelly's dress! So gorgeous!

  11. I did not watch the Grammy's - watched Ocean's Eleven instead :-)

I have three different pairs of running shoes - but they all have their purpose (mud runs, regular and general workout). I do need to grab a new pair for this year's races though.

  12. Oh Kelly and Rihanna's dresses were my favorite for sure. I really don't like J-Lo's either though. I've totally felt tired all week too! I blame Winter weather.

  15. Oh man I didn't watch the Grammy's but my alarm clock is set to radio so stories about it was the first thing I've heard today.

I love love love Rihanna's dress. I find it to be a bit unlike her though... I'm with you on Taylor Swift always wearing those same old fairy-tale cute dresses. Sigh...

    1. I agree about Rihanna! I think she can be a bit...trashy...lol, but this was very girly and just PRETTY!

  16. i always try to do shoe rotation, but I always end up wearing my fave pair. Also you LIKED the treadmill!! great accomplishment, I seriously no matter how hard I try, like it. my runs feel like they're so much longer on a treadmill! you're doing awesome with your mileage, keep up the good work!

  17. I need to get new primary shoes (if that makes sense). My Mizunos have been awesome, but I can tell they are pretty worn down. I will probably get the same brand and a similar model, since I love them. I rotate with Asics, which I am good with on runs under 8 miles.

  18. Beyonce can get away with anything she wants! She does look gorgeous though.

  19. Didn't watch but I love the red carpet picks. I would kill for that jumpsuit. Kelly's dress was gorgeous in my opinion but I can do with J.Lo's! Agreed on Kate Perry!

  20. I didn't watch the Grammy's at all, I live in a bubble at times, I totally forgot it was on!

I have 5 different shoes that I rotate through depending on treadmill/road/track and mileage! Helps me get the most use out of them - esp my lovely Mizuno's which @ $150 a pop I would tear through if they were my only ones!

  23. I usually get bored on treadmills, hopefully I can find them fun! I didnt watch the Grammy's last night but I love Katy Perry so much! Maybe I should watch part of it, lol :)

  24. I am so amazed that you ran 13.1 on the treadmill...I get crazy bored by mile 3 on the treadmill!!

  25. You know, I never noticed it until you just said it...Taylor Swift always DOES look the same!

I have one pair of running shoes I literally run (pun intended) into the ground. You're obviously a much more veteran runner than me- any benefit to having multiple pairs?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. oh no! Definitely wouldn't call myself a veteran runner - I am pretty clueless!!
I read a lot of running blogs and it was how I found out about not running more than 450-500 miles in one pair as you lose the cushioning of the shoes. I've found personally, I definitely got injured more when I ran waaay too many miles on one pair of shoes!

      Delete
  26. Love your Grammy's fashion fix! Sooo not sure about Jlo's dress - it's like that one that Angelina Jolie wore once and the split was just a tad too high... BUT if you can, why not?

    ReplyDelete
  27. I think I need to start doing a shoe rotation, too. Since this is the first time that I'm really sticking to a training plan, I'm noticing how quickly one pair of sneakers can get worn down.

I know I keep saying this, but your posts about treadmill running are really inspiring. I haven't brought myself to run more than 3 miles on the treadmill yet, but I think you're on to something with doing a long run on the treadmill and it may make shorter runs on the treadmill easier/more enjoyable.

If/When I make it to the treadmill I owe you a lot! lol

  28. I never really get arounf to watching those things, but I always love hearing about them after!

  29. I am glad the treadmill running is working for you!
