Raaaandom FACTS!

I got hit so suddenly with a baaad cold tonight..so I'm down and out at the moment.

Lots of rest , fluids & medicine so I can get back on my feet soon.

I am SO excited for 2013. I love new beginnings and I cannot wait to start marathon training and see how far I can go!
December was AWFUL for me exercise/running wise. No sugar-coating it. I stunk it up.

RANDOM FACTS BECAUSE I HAVEN'T DONE ANY RUNNING WORTH TALKING ABOUT!
(How's that for a great title??)

  • I used to play the violin veeeery well when I was about 10. I whipped out that baby and played in the middle of airports at stupid o'clock in the morning. I can't imagine how irritating that musta been for travellers.

Do you play any instruments?? I've since lost all ability to play.

  • Apart from when I was 5/6 years old - I have *never* been to a wedding!!! A couple of my best friends are married, but they got married in a different country and none of our friends were able to make it.

  • Are you a beach lover??

Not counting when I was a baby, I've been to the beach ONE TIME.
That was summer 2011. I'm just not a big fan!

...And not a single thing matched.

  • Have you ever been on tv?? Ever hear of Jeremy Kyle?? (He's huuuge in the UK, and just started his talk-show out in the States last year).

I went to a free live-tapping of his show in NYC last year. It was about a drug-addicted and absent father.

My 15 seconds of fame.

  • One of the best things to come out of my university experience - my best friend:

  • My favouite book is "tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom. It really changed my outlook on life. Very inspirational.

  • I have never raised my voice/yelled or really got in an "argument" with a boyfriend or friend. Disagreements/discussions, yes..but not an argument. A lot of people will say that's highly unhealthy. I'm not sure what the answer is but I find arguing and yelling very very hard to handle.

  • I've never watched or read anything Twilight or Harry Potter. *Ducks*

  • I'm 5'0 and have size 5 (UK size 3) feet - it is hard to find shoes sometimes!

Throw me some facts about you!!

The violin was something I learned off my uncle since he's a violin teacher. I think I enjoyed the flute more!

  3. oh no! not the icky cold :( feel better soon! some random facts: i grew up going to the beach and have always LOVED it, but lately i crave the mountains. favorite book is The Daily Coyote by Shreve Stockton, totally gave me new perspective on a subject i was very judgemental about, and just love Shreve's story of her journey. i'm amazed that you've never argued with a friend or boyfriend! my highschool/college days were pretty dramatic i guess ;) but GREAT relationships survived and thrived!
you are going to do GREAT with marathon training!!! soooo excited for you!

  4. Hey, we'e about the same height and I imagine you're as petite as me. It's just tough to find clothes and shoes that fit me whenever I'm abroad. I remember shopping at Gap Kids when I was studying in UK.

  5. This post cracks me up. I have had a miserable month as well, and being injured/sick hasn't helped. I hope you get back on your feet pronto!

I have been on TV a few times because I was in a few advertisements for the university I went to as an undergrad. When they went to a bowl game, I was seen nationwide! I thought I might get a movie deal... Not so much.

  12. So with you on Harry Potter and Twilight and anything of that sort. Unfortunately I am also right there with you with my running in December ... but it is almost 2013, so here is to new running goals in 2013!

  13. I hope you feel better too! That SUCKS.

I played clarinet, but not quite to airport extent ;-). I don't love beaches, but living where I do, I've been a LOT. Tuesdays with Morrie is an amazing book. Just thinking about it changes my perspective on everything.

    1. My brother played the clarinet in school - that's a HARD instrument!

  14. awwww feel better soon. Running will be there when you do. Love the random facts. I am a beach lover but I HATE sand in my house. Crunching sand under my feet in my house is like nails down a chalk board to me!

    ReplyDelete

    1. Eek, I'd really find sand in the house annoying too, totally understandable!

  15. Ha! I was a flute player by default too...I wanted to play violin like Cait up there, but defaulted to flute b/c we didn't have strings in my school. (Same music I guess...and I could bring my instrument to school in my back pack. Very important to not APPEAR to be a band geek I guess)

I was a beach girl as a kid, but on Lake Ontario, not the ocean. These days I'd take the adirondaks and hiking any day over the beach. (but am contemplating Iron Girl...which would entail re-learning how to swim...and so...)

I was on local tv as I crossed the finish line in the huge 15K race we have in our area. The first year I ran I downloaded the clip and played it over and over and over! that's the extent of my tv-ness

Huge Harry Potter book fan. Twilight I read because my students were totally into it, and I like to read what they're reading. That's how I found the Hunger games too. I'm a big reader though, and will read just about anything that's around. Tuesdays with Morrie is a great one! I don't have a favorite book though, that would be like asking to pick my favorite child.

Weddings. A million of them. The best one (besides my own? LOL) was my brother's. We had a wedding weekend in NYC for him. He and his wife had a wedding banquet in china town (she is chinese american) and then an american wedding the next night on the 4th of july. It ended with watching fireworks over the brooklyn bridge. magical!

My december running has been pretty crappy too...and I'm not even sick (knock on wood) Just lazy I guess. I need some new goals.

Love this post! :) Feel better soon! (I swear by home-made ginger 'tea'. Grate some ginger in a mug, fill with water, microwave until hot, add lemon and honey. When I'm sick, or feel like I'm getting sick I'll do this 3 or 4 times a day. It's tasty and helps)

    1. I've never been on a "real" hike before - that's going to be one of my goals to try out in the new year!

I've never read Hunger games either! I thought the movie was interesting..I thought the subject matter of killing each other(as humans) for survival was harsh! haha!

Right - I need to find a guy to marry me soon. LOL Your borther's wedding sounds magical!!! With the way it's going and my love for NYC, I think I'd like to get married there!

  30. "stupid o'clock in the morning" LOL U so funny :)

I used to play the violin in jr. high school. Not sure if I could still play, but I can still read the music. That came in handy when I took piano lessons earlier this year.

The beach is just ok for me..I'm very fair skinned, and not a big fan of the heat. I used to go all the time with friends when I was younger. Now I stick to 4 wheeling on the beaches that allow ;)

I am guilty of reading Harry Potter (all 7), Twilight (all 4) and even 50 Shades of grey (all 3). I read a lot of different stuff, and I have to admit I did enjoy all of those.

I hope you feel better soon! I think a lot of us were in the same slackin' boat for December, as far as exercise is concerned :)

    Happy New Year!!!
